The right finish depends on whether the canvas has enough margin to wrap, whether there’s a signature or detail near the edge you want to keep visible, and the style of the room where it will hang. For an original painting, the condition and structure of the canvas also matter. We’ll talk through all of this with you before anything is stretched.
For original paintings, we use adjustable stretcher bars so the canvas can be tightened in future as it naturally relaxes over time. For conservation work, we can also secure stretcher wedges to prevent them from coming loose or getting lost. See our conservation framing page.)
